Ontario Integrity Commissioner, Hon. J. David Wake, provides an overview of judicial ethics in Ontario with insight from his distinguished career in the judiciary, notably as Associate Chief Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice. Commissioner Wake will then provide insight into government ethics in Ontario, from the perspective of his current role as the province’s Integrity Commissioner. Contrasting between judicial and public service ethics, Commissioner Wake will also provide insight into the complexities and evolving challenges in the administration of government ethics in Ontario.

The HON. JUSTICE J. DAVID WAKE was appointed as the Ontario Integrity Commissioner in February 2016, recommended by an all-party committee of the Ontario Legislature. Called to the Bar of Ontario in 1974, he practised litigation law in Ottawa for twenty years. He served as a judge in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton and Ottawa from 1994 to 2013, and was Associate Chief Justice from 1999 to 2005. He has been involved in judicial education, international juridical development, court reform, and is a co-author of the Annotated Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In his spare time, he's an avid golfer.
