"Is it ethically right for employers to punish employees for bad deeds committed off the job? When an individual's bad deeds become public, the public often demands and then celebrates retribution by their employer. This presentation explores the sources and justification for such demands, along with reasons why we ought to be cautious about celebrating such action by employers."
CHRIS MACDONALD teaches ethics and critical thinking at Ryerson University's Ted Rogers School of Management. A philosopher by training, he is Chair of the Law & Business department, and Director of the Ted Rogers Leadership Centre. His current research is focused on the epistemic obligations of corporate directors, and the relationship between cynicism and unethical behaviour within organizations.
