While considerable work has been done on the ethics of military drones, almost none has been done on the ethics of commercial and civilian drones. This paper will introduce the audience to some of the applications and uses of commercial and civilian drones and present some guidelines for the ethical use of this evolving technology.

PHILIP MACEWEN is a Coordinator of the York Collegium for Practical Ethics, Past President of the Canadian Society for the Study of Practical Ethics, and a Fellow of McLaughlin College. He is on the organizing committee of “Building Trust in Government,” a one-of-a-kind event at the University of Toronto on public sector ethics (www.coicommissioner.gov.on.ca/wp- content/uploads/2016/07/Ethics_Conference_Program.pdf). Philip teaches philosophy and humanities at York University and has published widely in practical ethics and the history of philosophy.
